KON’s specialized knowledge in various industries, including steel, alumina, and acid regeneration, with work done also in the cement and magnesia industries, showcases versatility and adaptability to diverse industrial contexts. Moreover, KON’s dedication to the development of greener technologies and the implementation of new carbon-neutral processes demonstrates a proactive approach toward mitigating environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices within the industrial sector. 

In Carbon4Minerals, KON-Chem will identify together with the different teams the key process data to be measured in pilot tests. With the obtained results, a connection between the pilot flowsheets and deeper process insights will promote better technology decisions when scaling up to the industrial process.

With the developed know-how flowsheets for industrial-scale processes will be prepared, based on mass and energy balances for each pilot. The developed industrial flowsheets together with the first mass and energy balances act as a base for the industrial upscaling study. This includes CAPEX and OPEX estimations at the industrial scale. KON-Chem establishes CAPEX estimations identifying and involving first-class European equipment suppliers. The consolidation of the process equipment and flow sheets will reduce uncertainty and de-risk investments.
