ICCM 2024

We are thrilled to announce that our partners from VITO are gearing up for the ICCM 2024, the 12th ACI/RILEM International Conference on Cementitious Materials and Alternative Binders for Sustainable Concrete, taking place from June 23 to 26 in Toulouse, France.

This international conference will showcase the latest scientific and technical advancements in supplementary cementitious materials and novel binders for concrete. The focus this year is on the growing importance of alternative and sustainable binders. Attendees will have the opportunity to delve into original research on pozzolans, mineral admixtures, and both standard and alternative SCMs.

Our project coordinator, Liesbeth Horckmans, along with VITO colleagues Hadi Kazemi Kamyab, Peter Nielsen, and Bert Riems from ArcelorMittal, will present their work on June 25. They will discuss the innovative process of Upcycling basic oxygen furnace (BOF) slag into a carbon negative supplementary cementitious material (SCM) through mineral carbonation.
