GEMS Workshop organized by NTNU

We're thrilled to announce that our partner NTNU will be contributing to the educational aspect of the CARBON4MINERALS project by organizing a GEMS Workshop on Thermodynamic Modeling of Cementitious Systems. The workshop will take place from Tuesday, June 27th to Friday, June 30th, 2023, at Eawag, Dübendorf.

During this workshop, participants will gain a better understanding of thermodynamic equilibrium and mass balance calculations and learn how to use GEMS, a thermodynamic modelling software developed at PSI, for cementitious systems. This workshop will provide participants with the ability to calculate the hydrate composition of cementitious materials and to create single systems and process files in GEMS to calculate hydrate compositions, saturation indices, and chemical interactions of cementitious materials with the environment.

The workshop will be led by experts in the field, including Prof. Dr. Barbara Lothenbach, Dr. Frank Winnefeld, and Dr. Ellina Bernard from Empa, Prof. Dr. Klaartje de Weerdt from NTNU, and Prof. Dr. Burkan Isgor from OSU, USA.
