Kick-off meeting in Antwerp, Belgium

February 2023

In February 2023, the much-anticipated CARBON4MINERALS project was officially kicked off with a meeting held in Berchem, a charming southern district of Antwerp, Belgium. The event, hosted by VITO (Flemish Institute for Technological Research), marked the beginning of an exciting collaborative effort.

The meeting started with a warm welcome from the project coordinator Liesbeth Horckmans setting a positive tone for the two-day event. The coordinator's introductory remarks were followed by an introduction of the consortium members and the Project Officer from the European Commission. This provided an excellent opportunity for all partners to familiarize themselves with each other and the goals of the project.

Each partner presented themselves, outlining their roles, project plans for the upcoming six months, and their expectations for CARBON4MINERALS. This exchange encouraged a sense of shared purpose and commitment among the participants. To further strengthen these new connections, the coordinator invited everyone to a social dinner after the day's sessions. This informal gathering allowed partners to engage in deeper conversations about strategies and build stronger working relationships in a relaxed atmosphere.

The second day of the Kick-Off meeting was dedicated to crucial aspects of project management. Discussions focused on communication, dissemination, and exploitation strategies to ensure the project's success. The technical discussions that followed were vital for aligning tasks and planning pilot activities, ensuring that every partner was on the same page and ready to tackle the challenges ahead.

The meeting concluded with the planning of the next in-person consortium meeting, leaving all partners enthusiastic and optimistic about the journey ahead. The successful Kick-Off has set a strong foundation for CARBON4MINERALS, and all partners are eager to collaborate and innovate towards achieving the project's ambitious goals.
